Caption: Interestingly, this was the first time in history that a photo of the entire Man being raised could have been taken.
In the early days of the Man (before 2001) the man was simply tilted upwards by teams of participants pulling on ropes. Since then he’s been lifted by a more prosaic crane, because the bases have been too big.
But it’s always been the body alone - headless - that was lifted. 2013 was the first year that I know of that the entire man was lifted in one piece, head and all. (I’m sure someone can correct me if I’m wrong on this)
