Now for the extremely geeky backstory.
If you had permission to come on site early to work, you were given a black vinyl wristband bearing the cryptic message R2F0ZSBSdWx1cyE=. Ben Page can be seen wearing one in this photograph.
The message was supposed to read “Gate Rules!” encoded using the MIME Base-64 scheme. But someone had made a typo when producing the bands and had substituted a numeral 1 for a lowercase L, resulting in the hi-larious spelling error.
Well. I thought it was funny.
Also, the gate was kind of looking particularly prisoner campesque this year.
