Caption: In previous years, various wooden (and in one instance, cardboard) temples were built by Petaluma artist David Best and his crew. They served as a spiritual hub of the event, and a place for mourning. Two subsequent years saw the temple design taken on by Mark Grieve, working with the same team.
This year Best was working in Ireland. And so Shrine and Tucker, creators of last year's Tasseograph Trash Tea temple, came to the playa with a totally different team of volunteers to build a new temple made mostly of reclaimed materials.
