Hardly anybody knew the structure's official name, and it soon became known as the Belgian Waffle. This probably annoyed the Uchronians, but frankly I don't think most Americans have a whole lot of other associations with Belgium.
I guess it beats "Belgian Statue of Urinating Boy" or "Belgium, capital of NATO" or what have you.
