  • Name: Neverwas Haul by night
  • Caption: A vintage steam-powered traction engine, built in 1920 by the J. I. Case Threshing Machine Company of Racine, Wisconsin.
Brought to the playa by San Francisco's Kinetic Steam Works, it was pulling the Neverwas Haul, an amazing Victorian house on wheels. The wistful toot of the steam whistle could be heard for miles across the playa. This is a project I wish I'd photographed more.
