Nowhere 2005

Fabian Meier's UFO dome at moonrise. This is actually a kind of a cheat photograph, but an honest cheat.

I was walking back to the car and suddenly noticed the rising moon, burning orange in the sky. Then I noticed two people standing in front of Fabian's illuminated dome; a perfect silhouette. I dashed to the car and grabbed my tripod and telephoto lens, and when I turned around they'd walked off. Argh. So I asked a couple guys if they could stand next to the dome and hang out for the 30 second exposure required to take the picture. They cheerfully did, and this is the result.

The moon has been turned into an ovoid smudge by the long shutter time - it has actually moved across the sky during the course of the exposure.
